NPayne catching a fish...NOT, but he was giving it a try. Yes that would be me with my arm around him!
NPayne, Drew and Elli while on our walk.
Elliot cooling off her marshmallow...it hasn't actually been in the fire but don't tell her that!
Our dear friends... Leslie, Jeff and their little B girl live on a private lake. It is really out in the middle of nowhere, and IT'S GREAT! It's about 1 1/2 hours from us, but we go there as often as we possibly can; because we LOVE it & we LOVE them. Their house is quaint, comfortable and homey. They also own a small but adorable log cabin which is directly across the lake from their house which is where we usually spend the night when we go for an overnight outing. The cabin, although small, has a fold out couch in the living room. It has a big beautiful and comfy double bed in the downstairs bedroom, and it has two cots and a really cool double bed (which hangs from the ceiling...yes literally swings from the ceiling) in the upstairs loft. In other words, although the cabin is very small; it accomodates us nicely. Jeff, is about one of the handiest guys I know, and he built the two beds that are in the cabin (including the swinging bed). Yes I know....swinging bed....may cause some inappropriate images to cross your mind, however; the bed was built to hang from the ceiling for a purpose....NO not that purpose. It was built that way, so they would have room to store things in the loft; because it was so small. Leslie and Jeff lived in that cabin for several years before they became parents. When they discovered a babe was in their future, they bought the place across the lake. Their house, across the lake, is small but much more accomodating for children. When we go to visit... we fish a lot, play outside a lot, take walks a lot, and eat a lot (they are both really good cooks). Leslie is from a French background, so everything she cooks is fabulously rich with cream, butter, cream cheese, etc. This time of year, it's chilly; so this weekend we built a campfire and sat around it while the kids roasted marshmallows and ran around. Cal LOVES this tractor (see Spookarama post for more details) that they use to have at the cabin, so Jeff oftentimes tries to bring it over for him to sit on and play on; and it makes us all gleefully happy to see Cal have so much fun. As I said earlier, Jeff is one of the handiest guys I know. He completely re-did the house they live in right now, and it is the cutest house with tons of character. Of course it helps that Leslie is extremely creative as well. Right now they are in the process of designing and builiding a guest house on their land, and it is the coolest thing ever. I can't wait for it to be complete, because I know it will be decorated fabulously and have all kinds of cool stuff in it (I posted a picture of the guest house...that Jeff is building). Someday NPayne and I want to have a place, like theirs, to escape to....we would actually like it to be on their private lake; so we could go over to their house for that delicious and ever so healthy (wink) breakfast that Leslie makes for us when we visit.
